BENTENG KUTO BESAK (BKB)
PALEMBANG

Benteng Kuto Besak is a history palace building at Palembang Musi river. The fort is located at Palembang on the banks of the Musi river. This building has a high historical value because the fort’s age has reached hundreds year. From there we can look Ampera bridge. This fort is built in 1780 on the initiative of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin 1,who regined in 1724-1758.
At evening, the area of BKB is filled by merchants. Traveler can hunt special culinary from Palembang, such as empek-empek. We can be enjoy our meal on the boat floating restaurant at Musi river. The atmosphere will be dramatice because the light comes from the row of garden light creates a yellow reflection on the surface of the Musi river. It’s so amazing view.

Once upon a time, the king which was leading in Sriwijaya kingdom had a daughter, who was called Siti Fatimah. She was very beautiful. She fell in love with a trader from Tiongkok, Tan Bun Ann. Both Siti Fatimah and Tan Bun Ann loved each other. One day, Tan Bun Ann wanted to marry Siti Fatimah. Siti Fatimah’s father, the king of Sriwijaya kingdom, offered some requirements for Tan Bun Ann before married with Siti Fatimah. The king asked him to bring 9 bags of gold. Tan Bun Ann’s families agreed with the requirements.

Tan Bun Ann’s families put the gold in the bag, and they covered it with some vegetables to avoid some pirates at that time, but Tan Bun Ann didn’t know about it. When the King wanted to see the gold, Tan Bun Ann was surprised because he saw the vegetables in the bag instead of the gold. The King was angry and Tan Bun Ann was extremely shy, then he kicked the bag into the river. He jumped into the river afterwards.

Siti Fatimah was disappointed. She also jumped into the river, but before that she said, “Somedays, there would be a land in the middle of the river, and it would be known as my grave.” Today we can see that what Siti Fatimah  had said becomes true. Many people believe that Kemaro Island is the grave of Siti Fatimah.

Saute of Beans Mixed “Tempe Berek”
Ingredients :
-          Long beans
-          2 sheets of bay leaves
-          4 cloves of sliced red onions
-          2 cloves of sliced garlics
-          ½ piece of “Tempeh Berek”
-          12 piece of green chilies
-          5 piece of cayennes
-          Salt and brown sugar to taste
-          Cooking oil to taste

Steps
1.       These are steps to make saute of beans mixed “ Tempeh Berek”.


2.       Firstly, prepare ingredients, such as long beans, tempeh berek, bay leaves, red onions, garlics, green chilies, cayennes, brown sugar, cooking oil and water.
 
3.       After than, cut the long beans, sliced red onion, sliced garlics, sliced cayennes and seasoning.

 
4.       Next, washing long beans and spices.
5.       Then, pour a little oil into frying pan until rather heat, if the oil was hot, enter sliced red onoins and garlics, and than enter cayennes and green chilies, wait until fragrance and add salt and brown sugar while stir while until well mixed.

 
6.       Then, enter “ tempeh berek” fried briefly.

7.       And than enterlong beans, add a little water.
 

8.       And close frying pan with cover the pan to make long beans will be soft until five minutes.

9.        After than open frying pan, if the taste is just right, lift and ready to be served.
